Biography

Gregory Cootsona has taught comparative religion and humanities at Chico State University, California, USA since 2014. He completed his Ph.D. at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley and wrote his dissertation comparing the thought of the scientist-philosopher Alfred North Whitehead and the theologian Karl Barth. His current research areas are religion and science, the New Testament, western religions, and literature and philosophy since the Enlightenment. He co-chairs the Science, Technology, and Religion group of the American Academy of Religion and is the principal investigator of a 3-year $2 million grant funded by the John Templeton Foundation, Science and Theology for Emerging Adult Ministries, which focuses on 18-30 year olds’ integrating Christian faith with mainstream science.
